University of Cincinnati - Industrial Design - Senior Thesis- EcoLawn project. I wanted to direct my attention to developing an "Eco-Conscious" alternatively fueled riding mower where the grass clippings could be used to power the next lawn mow. The concept was to develop not only the mower but the conversion unit that would enable the decomposition of the grass clippings to be accelerated to capture the methane gas in containers that could than be used to power the mower. The focus for the thesis would be on the riding lawn mower where I determined that the best cut method would be to use reel cutters that gently cut the grass with a scissor-like precision which would protect the trimmed grass from potential diseases from poorly cut grass. The mower would also utilize these reel cutters as "outriggers" for the mower to be able to adjust it's position to safely cut on hillsides and culverts where the mower could position itself using gyroscopes to safely maintain the operators position on various elevations.
