My Story...

Ever since I was old enough to hold a pencil, I loved to draw. In order to stop me from drawing on everything in front of me, my parents gave me Lego Bricks. So then I started building things - buildings, towers, and bridges. Drawing and building allowed me to use my imagination and create wonderful things. But my Dad said that I can’t live in a fantasy world all the time so he would put me to work. Helping him fix things - cars, appliances, lawnmowers, etc. My Dad taught me to not be afraid of taking things apart to see how things work as long as I could put it back together so that “it” would still work. I developed an inquisitive nature to want to learn how things work so that I could learn how I could potentially apply that to something else.

As I was navigating my high school years, I thought I would be an architect or an engineer. Until one day, my sister asked me to pick her up from the Cleveland Institute of Art where she was a student in Fine Arts/Graphic Design. In my search to find her studio classroom, I took a wrong turn. It was into a studio where a bunch of students were sketching and building models. I was excited! The professor, Viktor Schreckengost, saw me in my “dream-like” state and asked if he could help me. I asked what is this? He said this is an Industrial Design studio. Viktor walked me around and discussed the project the students were working on- designing a lawn-mower for Murray Outdoor Power Equipment. From this moment on I knew this is what I wanted to do in LIFE

I went to the University of Cincinnati and I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Design. I achieved becoming an Industrial Designer or as I like to say a “Jack-of-all-Trades”. To me Industrial Design was the best career path that enabled me to combine my love of drawing and creating with my interest in how things worked.
